Kirra the Koala
Meet Kirra the koala, she was rescued as a baby from a nearby bushfire and was taken to the Snuggul Sanctuary to live amongst the other Snuggul Friends – a community of friendly animals. The staff there quickly realised how special Kirra was and began searching for her a fitting name. Through one of their research efforts, they found that the Aboriginal name 'Kirra' meant 'leaf' and 'life'.
It was the perfect name for the young koala! For it symbolised her miraculous escape from the fire, and how she had flourished in the care and attention of the sanctuary. Not only that, but little Kirra is also very easy to please; she’s not a fussy eater, instead happily nomming on any eucalyptus leaves that she finds, both around the sanctuary and sometimes further outside when she regularly explores her new home.
She loves when people come to visit her, they will line up for hours, ready to give her lots of hugs and take pictures of her. But whats most important to her is the fact that she gets to eat a lot during this time!
And so, from the tragic circumstances of being saved from a bushfire, Kirra found a safe haven of loving care and had come to symbolise a new life of joy and adventure.
